I’m watching the birds feasting on the fat balls hanging from the tree in our garden. It’s fun to watch how tits and house sparrows mostly ignore each other and can peacefully eat from one ball, but two sparrows will sometimes fight over it. There’s one that’s a bit bigger, well fed comes to mind, and he tends to fly over and hit other sparrows on the head with his beak. Just because he thinks that it’s his turn now. But he’ll only do this to his own sort, apparently being bossy with tits is not done.
I’ve been on the sick leave from work in the last week and a half and I finally feel a little bit better today. This infection, whatever it may be, is not easy to get rid of and it leaves me feeling tired in the afternoons. I’m curious how today will go.
I’ve been trying to read a lot in this time, but I’ve actually done just a standard amount and scrolled away for many hours. Which I, of course, regret muchly, especially that there’s not much to see anyway. It feels like there is less activity on the gram and Bluesky is not yet as busy as Twitter ever was. I’m not yet sure what to make of it. For now I have a feeling that a shift is coming and not only in the social media world.
Back to my reading, I needed something fast paced to keep my mind occupied and I looked at the library catalogue and found The Spy Coast by Tess Gerritsen. I’ve always wanted to read something by her and as I’ve watched all Rizzoli & Isles series I thought that her new books series was a good choice. It just didn’t feel right to go to my place of work (library), while I’m sick, to pick up a book. And then I’ve realised that I had about 300 e-books on my e-readers and that there should be something on there that would suit my mood.
And there was. It turned out that I still have some Sharon Bolton’s books to read. I don’t know how this happened, really. I’m a fan and I thought that I’ve read everything by her and didn’t expect to have some unread books still. I’ve decided to read The Fake Wife and it’s exactly what my mind needed.
How are you doing those days?
