This morning started with cleaning up the cat vomit and egg popping in the pan so hard that I jumped up on my chair in the living room. This things shouldn’t be allowed to happen before a person had her first mug of tea.
When I turned off the stove and the eggs stopped bouncing in the pan and Alice finally settled a sunny spot on the sofa, the silence fell. I realised why I’m so tired. It’s not only the new rhythm to the weeks, because of the new job at the library, it’s also the noise. You’d think that a library job was a quiet one, but not in the Netherlands. Here, the libraries are also meeting spots, community spaces. Children are screaming or running enthusiastically from shelf to shelf.
I need to build in more quiet moments into my days. Less Netflix as the evening relaxation, more reading in silence.
How was your week?
