My morning walk started a bit late today, so the paths weren’t as quiet as I would like them to be. I passed quite a few tourist on my way back, as they were all going out into the world after breakfast. I’m so used to the quiet here that I keep forgetting that the weekends can get quite busy. It’s still not as busy as it would be where I lived before, so I can’t really complain. It’s just that I prefer to only talk to the animals I’m passing along the way, not people.
I’ve been walking quite a lot this week and now I don’t know why I haven’t done that for a few months. Walking is good for my thinking, my writing and general mental state. It helps me breath deeply and clear my mind from all the unpleasant thoughts. It also makes me want to write. It’s like my feet are connected to my hand and writing mind.
Every time I went for a walk last week I was reminded of how lucky we are to be living in this part of the Netherlands. There so much nature here, the paths are quiet and they can take you to some unexpected places. Since we live here I’m discovering more and more about myself and what is good for me. And I’m amazed how long I’ve lived and worked in an enviroment that was making me unhappy.
I’m working towards a life that will be good for me and will make me feel calm and happy. I’m not very close to the ideal yet, but I’m getting there.
Have a lovely Sunday!
P.S. I’ve shared a couple more snapshots from today’s walk in Notes if you want to see them.
I know what you mean... I tend not to go down to the beach at the weekend because of all the people - particularly in the summer. 😩
