I’ve skipped my workout this morning. I just couldn’t bring myself to overheat my body again. This heat wave feels worse than the ones before this summer. Maybe, because thirty degrees and high humidity are not the best combination. Anyway. After a week of overheating and bed sleep, I need some rest. Especially that tomorrow it’s going to be hot day again and I won’t be able to hide in my cool living room from it.
The garden in the morning and in the evening is when the air is cooler makes me smile though. So many flowers still, so much life. Before we moved here, I hoped for enough space to have a wild garden and I think we’ve achieved this goal pretty well.
For some (especially my neighbours with their perfect lawns and neat gardens) our garden is a mess. For us it’s a place where nature does what it does best. The place where birds and insects can find food and feel at home. We even have a resident rabbit living under our magnolia shrub.
When we were staying in Germany in between houses, we saw a wild garden with a little board next to the fence, which said ‘Our garden is not unkept, it’s an insect’s paradise.’ We immediataly decided that we want out garden to need a sign like this, too.
We have also made small patches of ‘chaos’ and the insects are thriving 🍃
