Morning Stories: The morning after hush
A party, a quiet and slow morning, a collective hangover
The neighbourhood is asleep. Every sound seems and intrusion when everyone is sleeping off yesterday’s birthday party. It feels like the world knows about us and there are even less cars passing by. Even Alice (my cat) is quieter this mornig. A collective, neighbourly hangover is a new experience. It seems that this is what was needed to be fully accepted in this village.
But the haze is not only in our heads, the outside air is not completely clear either. It feels warm, but there seem to be little particles hanging in the air, clinging to my body, making it just a little bit more difficult to breath deeply. It’s the remnants of last night’s mist, still floating in the air.
I’m taking it slow today. Reading my book long past breakfast and sipping my tea while Alice purrs in my lap for a few minutes, before she moves to the sofa to stretch out comfortably. I’ll be moving to the sofa too, finishing this book before asking myself if I want to do anything else today.
Have a lovely Sunday!
