Morning Stories: The spring is finally here

annamboland.substack.com

The spring is finally here and there’s no denying of it any more. This also means that the crazy chaffinch is back in our garden and attacking our windows. He’s defending his territory from his own reflection. I guess I’ll be going to bed even earlier for the next couple of weeks, so I can get enough sleep before his defensive actions begin in the mornings. By the way, did you know that from all the birds, only magpies recognize themselves in the mirror?

I may do some garden work today as these first days of spring always make me want to spend more time outside. And I may need to compensate for yesterday, as I’ve spent it in front of the TV watching Rizzoli & Isles. I was so tired that I even didn’t feel like reading (it’s weird as I even read when I have a migraine). But it turns out that watching TV all day long isn’t good for the quality of my sleep either. Who knew?

Anyway, the garden is waking up and I may need to clear out all the last year’s debris, although the birds are still using it to build their nests. So I may wait for a few more days and simply read in the garden instead today.

How is your weekend?
