Taking stock: February 2023
Reading, thinking, remembering and lots more things from February
While January flew by, the whole winter things takes too long for me this year. Just when I thought that we were over it, the temperature dropped below zero at night again. On the other side, we have sun, which we haven’t seen much in the last few months.
I’m trying not to wish the seasons away, but this winter is hard. I need more sunshine and less cold. I want to hang my washing outside, sit in the garden with a book and dig in the ground without my hands being frozen afterwards. Is it too much to ask?
Luckily we’re almost there. The spring is literally around the corner as we’re entering this new month.
In February I’ve been:
Cooking: simple hearty dinners
Sipping: lots of tea and hot water, because I was cold almost the whole time.
Reading: mainly in Polish, which didn’t happen in a long time.
Thinking: about organizing my life better.
Remembering: my lovely in-laws.
Looking: forward to spring.
Listening: to my body and my needs.
Wishing: I was further along on this writing journey.
Enjoying: the little moments with my husbands, reading together on the sofa.
Appreciating: the calm I found in myself.
Wanting: to spend more time outdoor.
Buying: nothing at all.
Watching: Rizzoli and Isles.
Wearing: lots of knits and layers.
Walking: not much, but wanting to almost every day.
Hoping: I can get to the life I want to live
Noticing: how my approach to some things changed.
Bookmarking: this article on the Guardian
Feeling: stronger, but still not completely myself
Hearing: birds singing, which makes me feel that the spring is truly around the corner.
How was your February?
Lovely, thoughtful February reflections, Anna. February has been a month of hard work, magical moments and enjoying the ever-stretching light. So ready for spring, but also for some proper rest, and I’m not sure how the two will fit together! 💚
Thank you, Claire. ☺️
